Hello everyone, I bought my M1a scout new about a month ago. The ejected brass is putting little dents in my stock. Is this a common m1a problem?

Re: Springfield M1a scout

Yes, it is.
There is really nothing to do, except maybe add a small piece of rubber padding near the port, where the brass is dinging on.

I will gladly take all that dented brass off your hands, as it must be really bad.

Re: Springfield M1a scout

Try a USGI extractor. Brass should be ejecting to the 1-2 O'clock position and occasionally hit the op rod.

Re: Springfield M1a scout

Pretty normal, happened on mine too. Also got a dent in the stock from the op-rod.

Re: Springfield M1a scout

I have seen folks put the fuzzy part of Velcro on the portion of the rifle that the brass is hitting.

Re: Springfield M1a scout

Thanks for the tips guys, I will try the usgi extractor and put some Velcro on the stock.
