I recently purchased a used Rem 700p 308. The rifle doesn’t look like its ever been fired. I think it came from an estate. The rifle has a Springfield Gen I 4-14X56 30mm tube with range finding reticule and built in bubble level.

Does anyone have Good/Bad experience with this scope?
Thanks

Re: Springfield scope

I've had one for several years and have never had a problem. If you search the web you can find the manual for it. The reticle is okay, but if your a mildot user on another rifle and switch back and forth I find it kind of a pain. Being first focal plane is nice. The only thing I don't care for on this particular model is the lack of paralax adjustment.

As far as durability mine has held up well.

HTH,

Re: Springfield scope

If the scope has never been on another rifle and your rifle hasn't been fired, then the scope may be in working order. I would sell it prior to firing, as it may save you some shipping costs. SA will take care of needed repairs, so keep a box around if you decide to keep her - you'll need it.

Re: Springfield scope

I would feel better if it were on a lighter recoiling rifle like a 223.

I have a 3-9 on a 223 and it has held up fine, but I put a fixed 6 power on a 308 and and after the 5th shot fired the reticle broke loose and fell out of focus to the point it could not be seen.

I've heard of other having tracking problems.
