The gas system and muzzle devices on the Socom/Socom are somewhat integrated and only used on the 16" stuff. I think SEI has got a system to change the brakes over to flash suppressors, and their suppressor might work on that...I think that might be the only option.
But I've been wrong before.

don't know who makes one buts its damn sure a good cantidate for a suppressor.
I swear I think the Socom II is louder than my 15" Encore !!

There is only one option for the 16" M1A Socoms. You will need to purchase a SOCOM 16 Kit from Smith Enterprises
Then you can use the Smith/Fisher Silencer
That is your only option unfortunately, hope that helped.

I'm very interested in finding out more about the new option for the M1A SOCOM. As of now, it appears that SEI is the only way to go due to the proprietary gas system Springfield uses on the SOCOMs. Who is this next gen suppressor made by and what are it's levels of decibel reduction?

We are waiting on the results of the silencer tests so we have something to publish for people to make a decision on. We will also have our own Socom muzzle adapter. We already have one for the M1A/M14.

Wild Bill Here from Wild Bill's Guns in Oregon….For those that know us I am Bill Jr. I have been an M14 fan since I was a Marine in the 80's. Yes our primary rifle was the M16 but if you were lucky some units still had a few M14's. I still remember shooting the full auto version durring training at 29 palms. I currently have a few, but favorite is My custom SOCOM 16.
Pics of my SOCOM - I have since added a Trijicon Accupoint 1-4 on a Warne Mount with a burris speed dot on the side.
