The SPS V seems very muzzle heavy as compared to the VLS 24" model.

I haven't been able to compare the SPS-V and Savage at the same time, but the Savage seems more balanced. What do you think?

Would cutting 2 inches off the Remington make that much difference?

I guess some weight could be added to the stock.

The Savage doesn't look to me like it is worth the extra $200 since accuracy seems to be equal when using reloads.

The VLS has a laminated wood stock which is much heavier and changes the center of balance.

It depends what Savage you compare it to. Are you comparing a rifle with a stock that needs replaced and hinged floorplate to a Savage with an accu-stock that does not need to be replaced and has a very good detachable box magazine?

Yes, accuracy wise, it will pretty much be a wash.
When you figure 225 bucks for a stock for the SPS, what have you gained?

What it really boils down to is this, if you want an action that can be sent off to a reputable smith and come back shooting sub- 1/2 minute groups (a substantial monetary investment), get the Remington.
If you are just going for some self-satisfaction and might like to change your own barrels, go with the Savage.
Both rifle will shoot better than you for a while and either will serve you just fine, but it is my OPINION that a well tuned, blueprinted 700 with a top quality barrel will shoot better than a tuned savage with a top quality barrel.

I am asking about the balance comparison between the SPSV and Savage 10flcp-k.

Hoped to find a BDL stock and hog it out for the Remington.

I read about a test where the original stock was substituted for the accu-stock on one rifle and there was only a slight improvement. I'm not convinced it is all that great.

balance is what ever feels best for you, some will think A will be better, others will think B will be better, pick up a lot of different rifles and see what you like, you might think a tika is better or a howa.
