SPUHR or AI Picatinny Scope Mount

I've had both and the AI mount is a great scope mount but once I tried the SPUHR I was sold! The features on the SPUHR really set it apart like the built in bubble level, the included wedge that allow you to level your scope in seconds with 100% certainty is my favorite feature! the four anchor points to the rifle make for a rock solid base. A lot of thought went into the SPUHR design and in my opinion they are well worth the price
Exactly as said above, I've had and have both, the AI mount while appearing a bit crap in relation to the rifles themselves, works fine, no problems. However, once you've had the SPUHR mount, you wouldn't go back,
the built in level, the wedge to level it & the possibility to add a small pic rail make it a no brainer.
It's more expensive than the AI mount but it is far better made. The two AI mounts are in a drawer and the SPUHR mounts are on the rifles...

I like the idea of a direct interface, if the rifle has a dovetail run the Spuhr. Here is a pic of a Spuhr dovetail on a TRG
SPUHR all the way. The AI mount works for holding the scope and works well. But so does just about any other quality set of rings on the market.
My issue with the AI was that it puts the scope excessively high and took up all of the rail space on my AW. I couldn't run an ACI and level, I was stuck between one or the other.
The SPUHR is roughly the same weight, has a built in level and plenty of mounting options for an ACI. You can mount other shit too if you feel the need to but function and weight trade off may become an issue. Also for the scope I'm using it sits lower. Being able to level the scope isn't necessarily easier than feeler guages, just more convenient. Rings are lower profile due to the 45 degree cut and have more bearing surface holding the scope. Overall it's just a better mount.
Ultimately it's up to you and if you're willing to shell out the cash but since you mentioned you are putting it on an AX, I assume you are willing. If you do get a SPUHR, you wont have any regrets. Actually you'll probably end up buying more of them and their rings for rifles that you don't feel like putting the one piece mounts on.
