Hi guys, just bought a original picatinny rail to fit on top of my ssg 69, I got a pair of third eye tactical rings last week. Saddly the width of the rail seems to be too wide to accept the rings. when fitted, the rings are not even flush with the rail. Also the claw is way out. After some research, I managed to get the exact measurements and yes, the rail is too wide. (about 0.04")

Got to speak with third eye and accept to give a refund on the rings. Have you guys come across with a similar problem and how would I resolve this issue. Sending the rail back is not an option as it is one of the only rails on the market for this rifle. Surely being an original part they would have this made perfectly at the price of £120 I would think so!!!.

Are they any good quality rings for this problematic rail.

I can't wait to have my rifle finished, just ordered my McMillan stock which was in stock so it will be here very soon.

Anyway I'll be looking forward to hear from you guys.

cheers

Re: SSG 69 rail, non mil-spec

Thanks for the link. I was aware at the time when I purchased the rail but I thought I did the right thing by going with an original as it looked better fabricated, ( well that's what I thought ).

I think I might go to sportsmans "steyr main retailer in the uk" and see the what the guys think, I suppose they have seen this problem many times before!??.
