Haven't got the gun yet. So going on a presumed 3050 fps with the bullet info I got a sf of 1.24. Will this work or should I look at going with another bullet?

I will say, right from the beginning, that at that marginal stability, even if it does go pointy-end-first, the bullet may be wobbling enough that you lose all the hypothetical BC gain over the 142, etc. that might be quite nicely stable.

I used the bullet data base on strelok pro for the 150 smk. 8.7 twist Bartlein. Altitude of around 1000 ft. Shooting steel.
I've got a 8.5 twist and I'm not even going to try the heavy bullets until my barrel wears out and is replaced with a tighter twist. See Nat's post #5.
Is there a recmended max sf for any round?

I have run them an 8.0 twist at 2950-3050 to distance with no obvious stability issues. My new 8 twist barrel shows up today my first load development will be 150’s. I’m at 4000+ elevation so I get some help. I don’t think an 8.5 or slower is going to be ideal or might not work at all at your elevation.
