I saw a few review of this gun and was curious if those of you on here had any experience running it. I do not wanna run three gun with it but i like the features it offers. I would like to dabble in precision shooting and mainly just play with it

I will also throw this in. would an AR-10 be a bad option to consider for this option

Re: Stag Arms Model 3G

i think the most attractive parts of the Stag 3G are the Samson forearm, the Stainless & fluted barrel, and the Dueck Defense sights (optional for an extra $250 or so)

i just finished building my AR with a Palmetto lower, CMMG kit, MOE stock, Troy Battle Rail Alpha forearm, and a 20" Sabre Defense fluted Stainless barrel. i built mine for $800 with the hand-me-down barrel from a friend with less than 200 down the tube.

my "custom" AR is really, REALLY accurate. with some Magpul BUIS at a 45* cant on the forearm, i got away with Dueck style at a fraction of the price (also, BUIS were used and free)

all i need is a quality optic. after borrowing a nice 3-9 from a friend, i've decided to go with a Vortex PST 2.5-10 scope, whenever it shows up.

my .o2? the Stag is a nice gun if you wanna grab something off the shelf. the DPMS is also nice, but doesn't feel as well-made as the Stag. and as far as an AR-10? for casual shooting, i'd personally go with the 5.56 for cheaper and more plentiful ammunition

IANAL, YMMV, and remember what you paid for this opinion

Re: Stag Arms Model 3G

I was seriously looking at one, but ended up doing a build with the same Samson forearm and Magpul ACS stock, on a Mega ambidextrous billet upper/lower set, with Geissele Hi-Speed match trigger and JP bolt and carrier. I sent the bolt off to Krieger to have a 20" barrel made and chambered, and it's about perfect in my eyes (similar, but more expensive than a Stag 3G).

Re: Stag Arms Model 3G

Saw one in use at the range a few weeks ago, with one of the reflex sights Stag offer on its site. The owner was preping for three gun comp the next day. I asked him how it worked out when I saw him a week later, and he was very favorably impressed with the combination.

My impression of it, and my Model 6, is the Stag offerings are configured for specific applications, and stand well for those applicatons completely on their own, without needing additional mods, while potentially desirable upgrades/improvements, like military BCG's etc., are avsilable directly.

IMHO, Stag, like Savage and L-W, have joined my personal list of preferable vendors.
