I'm using data from Hodgdon's site and loading reduced loads for .308 and 7mm-08, using H4895 powder. Since case capacity will run somewhere around 60%-65%, would using a magnum primer be better for more consistent ignition/burn?

Thanks in advance,

Bill

I've used both standard and magnum primers for the very limited amount of subsonic I've made. Magnum will essentially guarantee all the powder is burned off before leaving the barrel as with anything start low and work your way up (being mindful of staying close to around 70% of case capacity). For 308 I use 70% of the amount measure when filling the case to just below the shoulder for Trailboss. If you're following that method of figuring out your case capacity you should be fine and if you're really concerned start .5 below that than work your way back up.

As with anything I'm some guy on the interwebs YMMV.
