TERM LIMITS, WILL STOP CAREER POLITICIANS.
Term limits stop 2 things, career shitty politicians and career good politicians. People realize that they can't do their own surgery or program their own computers but spew out the old "any old guy off the street can be a politician" like it's on sale without ever bothering to recognize or admitting the fact it's a skilled trade just like a surgeon or a software developer and one tends to increase their skill at it with more experience. What people who make statements like the above want but can't manage to actually say is, "no shitty career politicians" but that belies the fact that humans are incapable of selecting politicians for candidacy that are anything but unwavering partisans without any intention or ability to do what politics is meant to do, resolve contradictory mandates to achieve a rational mean where neither side gets what they want but both can tolerate what they do get. The problem isn't the politicians, it's the people. An example from literature which is very much appropriate (credit - Douglas Adams, HHGG):

“[Ford said] ".. On its world, the people are people. The leaders are lizards. The people hate the lizards and the lizards rule the people."
"Odd," said Arthur. "I thought you said it was a democracy."
"I did," said Ford. "It is."
"So," said Arthur, hoping he wasn't sounding ridiculously obtuse, "why don't the people get rid of the lizards?"
"It honestly doesn't occur to them," said Ford. "They've all got the vote, so they all pretty much assume that the government they voted in more or less approximates to the government they want."
"You mean they actually vote for the lizards?"
"Oh yes," said Ford with a shrug, "of course."
"But," said Arthur, going in for the big one again, "why?"
"Because if they didn't vote for a lizard," said Ford, "the wrong lizard might get in.”

Politics is a tool for the wealthy and well connected to control the rest. Nothing more. There is not one example of a benevolent gov’t/ruling class anywhere in the world at any period in time and yet people continue to fall for the same old shit thinking they have a vote/say in the direction their rulers take them. They do not when following the rules set by the matchmakers. They do when they no longer care to to play the game. Morality isn’t politics. Control of the masses is.

Way to fail to address any point that I made and just go off on a tirade. S'cool though. I don't expect most people to be able to rationally debate any given point about any given topic. They want to make grand pronouncements for show rather than defend rhetorical points for go.

Thank you for helping define your insanity. You keep voting for the same people and expect a different result. The legislative branch is a living, breathing body that must be refreshed no less than once a generation. What the fuck does Biden or Trump know about everyday life of a 30 year old? Time to change and look a DeSantis the future of the party. You seem to be okay being led around blindly and being told this is the way it is. Change is part of life, not living the same day after day. Next thing your going to tell seniors that they should happy about getting a 8% COLA without telling them everything is an average 8% more expensive now then yesterday.

This is facts. Shorter term limits means the governing body will change positions faster (and to @wade2big ’s point, become tyrannical faster).

An argument could be made that shorter term limits would require the reconciliation of differences much faster.

My opinion is we should (a) limit the amount of time someone can spend in the government and (b) impose much higher penalties for politicians profiting from their policies.

ETA: time in the government starts regardless if if they are elected to local, state or federal government. You take a paycheck from the local gov(or are elected to a position) at 30? You have 15 years of eligibility left regardless of what level of government you want to be in

I addressed the absurdity of every point you made. What I do agree with is when you mentioned the problem is the people. They never learn. People are supporting politicians and the system that used the police to close down their businesses, caused this massive inflation, and who murdered their friends and family. Blows. My. Mind.

I would challenge your line of thinking that leads you to come to the conclusion that the Republican Party has any part in solving this problem

Now your asking them to pass laws holding themselves criminally accountable for their actions? Insider trading start there. The current penalty for them is a $200.00 fine. Notice is did not say criminal penalty. All they did was violate the Stock Act. Joke! They will not pass anything that gets in their way of profiting off of their positions.

PM me a shipping address. I'll send you a free dictionary. Seems like you could use one.

Look forward not backwards is the point. Republican wins will help move this in a different direction. Or should we let the democrats have 2 more years to spend on what ever they want?

Another case for my offer of a free dictionary. PM shipping deets and I'll get one right out to you.

Partisanship is the problem, not the solution. Only a sclerotic dogmatism can either explain or sustain the kind of thinking (for lack of a better word) displayed in that statement.

You quote someone else because you have no thoughts of your own. Then offer a dictionary when you use a term S’cool? Get a grip.
No, brainiac, I quoted because that's how threads within threads work. You've managed to get rhetorically destroyed without even managing to make a coherent point that contradicts even one of my theses. Maybe if I used smaller words or if you took me up on the dictionary offer things would go smoother.

The republicans will maintain the current direction as they always do. You will just feel better about it when your team “R” is leading the downward spiral instead of the “D”. Do not fall for the same ole bullshit. Both shut down businesses. Both forced masks and vaccines. Both seperated loved ones to die alone. Both are stealing your wealth. Both are bringing the USA closer to war.

@Softtail103 First learn how to use the reply or quote feature correctly, second I wrote what you're asking for on this page. If you're not up to the task of actually reading it then I can't help you and you are unlikely to help yourself. Thus I will set your ineducable ass on ignore and call that shit a day. You can't teach stupid and you can't teach unwilling.

I hate to disappoint but I am one of them. I made a great deal of money in the stock market during the covid downturn. Those who lost made the choice to pull and run in fear instead of understanding the stock market. I threw my whole net worth at it and got what I thought I would. You are correct they both are thieves where the only goal is profiting before it’s all over. War is great for business. All of the money spent on manufacturing during war. And to think they give a shit about anything but power and money would be foolish.

But here I sit at 51, retired living the great life. You may be correct that you have read a few more books than I have but your still the same person with nothing original about you.

We both know there won’t be any laws passed and it’s really an ideal rather than a reality. Broken system

Let's say there isn't enough fraud to make a difference in the elections and we get a "red wave".

Does anyone think the Republicans will actually get anything done?

The very best we can hope for is that they make sure nothing happens at all.

Which is at least a big improvement over things now, but any hopes the Republicans would do anything to actually fix the country and problems are seriously misplaced.

Remembers the last big super Red Wave when the Republicans and Trump got control of all the government....
Remembers all the great things they did and how they gave us back all our lost freedoms, got rid of obamacare, got tough on the border and kicked out the illegals, fixed government corruption? Right? nope none of that happened...

Oh....and they passed the Hearing Protection Act, with the unfailing help of the NRA holding their feet to the fire. Don't forget to thank them for that. Huge win that.

<snip> one of my theses. Maybe if I used smaller words or if you took me up on the dictionary <snip>
Pick up dictionary.
Flip to "T".
Flip to "Thesis".

Definition of thesis
1 : a dissertation embodying results of original research and especially substantiating a specific view especially : one written by a candidate for an academic degree. 2a : a proposition to be proved or one advanced without proof : hypothesis.

Actually, Trevor Noah, back to comedy, said it best. Very soon, we shall see who gets control of these seats so that they can also accomplish nothing in the next two years.

As for election deniers, if they are going to give hell to people questioning the 2020 election, we need to MAKE them give hell to Hilary for denying Trump's election. And Stacy Abrams has still not conceded the Georgia gubernatorial race. She should be hounded mercilessly. If you want to run with the big dogs...

Keep one party or the other in control of the house, senate and WH and pack the SCOTUS. This will shorten the length of time to the inevitable implosion and we can start over. Doesn't matter which. Both are on different paths headed towards to same cliff.
