Just got back from Cabelas, I went to get some powder and primers and I left with that... and a new Hornady Lock and Load Auto Charge set and a new Chrony Master Beta. The wife is really going to love that Auto Charger and Chrony as her mothers day present...

First load will be in Winchester Brass and I got both 180SST and 175SMK bullets to try. Powder is Varget and Primers are CCI BR2's

Re: Starting my first batch.

Lock-n-load, man would like to have one of those.

I just got back from the range, working up ladders for 175smk's out of my sps-v. Tried TAC and Varget. The 26" bbl 1:12 twist wasnt having the TAC, but the varget shined for a node 43.8gr-44.1gr Rem brass, WLR primer.

I had success with TAC out of my 20" bbl SPS-T with 147 M80, and 168 A-max.

Let us know how your fair.

What are you shooting?

I'll be shooting and taking chrono readings tomorrow from a batch of Southwest Ammo (.308 175SMK) to get start getting familiar with the gun and to collect some brass. I went out last week for the first time and shot 100 rounds of Hornady Match. Zero'd in at 100 and tracked it out to 500 hitting steel targets pretty accurately and consistently. I also printed out some data log sheets to keep track of things and to help slow me down.

I've re-sized, de-capped and prep'd all the brass from last week to begin the loading process. I might crack a beer here in a bit and prime them all. I bought the Hornady handheld priming tool.

Nice score 'Doubled'.
I've been reloading all day. More like case prep from 97 fireformed .300 / 7mm Norma's 2 days ago.
I would love to have a powder system like yours. I'm still doin' it the old fashioned way. I can tell you one thing. That RCBS case trimmer has got to go, and I need to upgrade my case neck trimmer too.

Re: Starting my first batch.

Doubled,

Give me a call or send a PM if you need any input on the load. I can get you pretty close to duplicating our load with those components.

Re: Starting my first batch.

I made a total of 50 rounds; 10 each w/ Varget powder...

44.5
44.6
44.8
45.0
45.2

All with CCI BR2 Primers, Hornady SST 180 in Winchester Brass. I've read most of the threads on how to "Read pressure signs" and pretty much figured out that the ejector mark and soot around the primer is the most acceptable things to look for. I'll also be dumping them thru my chronograph. Wish me luck.
