Considering purchasing some steel targets for LR practice. What is considered the best type to stand up to much shooting? This will be done with rifles up to 300 Win.
Thank You

Re: Steel target suggestions

I have never used big dog steal so I can't speak to how his targets are. But I did buy some JC Steel targets off the last group buy and I can say they are great targets at a great price. Mainly been shot with my 308 with the closest target at 200 yards. Other than the paint getting marked up you can't tell they have been shot. Closest I have shot any with my 7mm mag and 300 win mag is about 350 yards and again just marks up the paint.

Big Dog Steel targets are 100% good to go.

Ryan uses very high quality materials and doesn't cut corners in production.

We but targets all the time from him and they are used in many matches a year. They hold strong and if you can dream it he can build it. He has done several custom products for us.

If your looking for targets and mounting systems, talk to Big Dog Steel.

I'm sure BigDog's targets are great but I've only used the AR500 targets from JCSteelTargets.com

I've purchased 10 targets from Jake (8", 10", 12" rounds, 45% IPSCs and 12"x24" rectangles).

My favorites are the 3/8" 45% IPSC targets and the 12x24" rectangles. The nice thing about the 12x24" rectangles is you can paint multiple targets on one piece of steel and at longer ranges I can still count on hitting the steel even if I miss my intended POI.

FWIW, if you go with targets from JCSteel - get the hardware and conveyor belts to hang it.....they're MUCH better than chain, etc.
