I'm looking for some steel to either make into a steel target my self or a steel target seller in SO CAL area.

Can handle at least 300 win mag and for a decent price. I've looked around and seen a few great priced ones on the net but the shipping would be tipple if not 5x the price of the actual steel plate it self.

Re: Steel Targets (CA) Question.

If you are in So Cal...I'd make a trip to Las Vegas and link up with Kurt of LV Steel Targets.

Or he can ship them to you at a cost.

Our club uses a lot of Kurt's targets and have yet to break one after years of abuse.

If you want to make your own..AR500 plate 1/2" is the only way to go. The last time I checked it was 1000.00 to 1200.00 for a 4'x8' sheet, uncut.

Re: Steel Targets (CA) Question.

Alright cool thanks. Yea I've Googled this for a while and have run out of resources and key words to put in accept I've seen about 100 steel drum makers around me. So if anyone in SO CAL wants a steel drum I'm the man to talk to on where to go

Thanks for the help brother.

Re: Steel Targets (CA) Question.

How big a target?

I thought you guys had a flat rate postage service for parcels of a cetain size? Your postman might hate you, but that would seem to be the best way to ship smaller targets.

Peter

Re: Steel Targets (CA) Question.

there are two vendors here that have plate and one has a nice selection of targets, like spinners, reactive and plate racks.

look in the optics for sale section or members list for OSUarchitect or bobcat steel. you just missed a guy that had 10x10 plates for $10. i got 5 shipped for $61 TOTAL so shipping cant be that bad if you arent trying to ship a 4'x8' sheet.

both of those guys sell steel and ship it all the time so you should be able to get some from either. both say they can cut custom shapes and i think both may have 1/2" ar500

Re: Steel Targets (CA) Question.

WTF? i dont even want to ask if your serious. but are you serious? fear of lead evaporation upon impact causing toxic contamination and air quality issues? oh tell me thats just a joke, lol

I work for Hansen Steel, never expected that to come up here. If you have a shape in mind, then we can definitely help you out. PM me or give us a call the phone number at the website above. We don't actuall set out to make targets, but we do stock AR plate and have had a couple customers come to us for targets recently. If you are looking for a finished product you could get in contact with Ron Jung from Shooting Sports Alliance in Norco. He's selling plate racks and other steel targets with AR500 plates. PM me for his number if you're interested.

Steel prices are on their way up again unfortunately, with AR500 plate running over $1/pound, well over for small quantities (less than 8ft x 24ft), and that doesn't account for cutting time.

Re: Steel Targets (CA) Question.

My cousin said he would make me one in his metal shop class. I guess they get it all at cost.
