Wishing I was back in MT
I just received a Steiner 4-16x and have a question about the elevation turret. When dialing up on elevation, should there be any resistance when turning to the second full rev where the pin/ indicator pops out? I get a resistance feeling when going up or down when the indicator pops in or out depending on the direction you turning. it doesn't feel natural or normal to me.

Thanks

I don't remember any resistance. You can take the turrets off the 4Xs. If you take it off, you can see and switch the lever that flips the pin and see if there in an abnormal amount of resistance.

I took the turret off and did an inspection but didn't see anything out of the norm. I replaced the turret and it now seems to be fine. I will know more when I can mount it on the rifle and sight it in. I really appreciate the follow up which tells me I made a good choice on an optic where the company cares. I will follow up when I receive the rifle.

Thank you

Of course it takes some energy to move a 2nd turn indicator.
Depending on the particular unit, an increase in effort while the indicator is in motion may be noticeable.
I have a 5-25 where the entire dial slides up to reveal a different scale in the 2nd turn (not sure if the indicator on a 4-16 is the same), and there is a small increase in effort while the scale is sliding when dialing up or down, but the effort is greater when dialing up... my guess is that there is a spring applying pressure to slide the scale down.

Update-

I took the rifle out and got it sighted in. Everything works great. I liked the scope so much that I bought another. Great glass, concise clicks, and awesome ergonomics. I would highly recommend these.

On a side note, both these are on gas guns, one is on a Mega Maten .308 and the other sits on a GAP 6CM. The one on the GAP is seated in the Badger mount and the one on the Mega sits in a ADM Recon QD. I got to say that the ADM is one bad assed mount. Not bashing the Badger at all as it is also a great robust mount. The ADM is very well engineered and looks killer plus it was cheaper the the Badger.
