Steyr 50

Re: Steyr 50

With all due respect to your local dealer...I am sure he wants you to buy the Steyr because he'll likely make a fair bit MORE money on selling you one versus the Armalite!!!

I would absolutely, without a doubt buy the Armalite AR-50!! They are excellent rifles for a fraction of the price of the Steyr and the Steyr offers NOTHING more than the Armalite. Additionally, with the Armalite, you get a US made rifle with a company standing behind it that offers excellent support/service if you would happen to have any problems/concerns, with a lifetime warranty to boot! Also, there is plenty of accessory/part support for the AR-50 if you want a different scope base (up to 50MOA cant bases), etc. which is something lacking altogether with the Steyr unless you go the custom mfg'd route which gets expensive fast.

Re: Steyr 50

Thanks guys. My dealer makes the same percent on me no matter what I buy. One of the perks of knowing the owner

This is exactly why I was asking on here, cause guys have some knowledge about this stuff and this will be my first 50. If I find that I really like shooting it that much, I might build one on a mac action just the way I want it.

Re: Steyr 50

The Steyr bigbore rifles haven't really been all that popular, either in .50BMG nor .460 Steyr. There's apparently a side-feeding repeater version inbound at some point too.
