I had some fun, and gained some skills and knowledge "sporterizing" one of my 91/30's into a "capable" long range rifle. Receiver and pillar bedded into an aftermarket stock, Weaver side scope mount toppped with Vortex glass, cut/re-crowned barrel and a Timney trigger, shoots minute of angle with 174 SMK's...
I'm intrigued by the M95 carbine, from what I've read, if you get one with a good bore they can be an accurate platform- and they're sure cheap enough to play with.
But, do they lend themselves to this type of project?
D&T for scope mount <span style="font-style: italic">looks</span> straightforward, at least much more so than the split-bridge Mosin.
Seems to be no aftermarket stocks, but I can modify or build one.
Caliber seems capable enough (powder capacity), apparently 7.62 Russian brass can be used, or 8x56 brass is available from Prvi.
Bullet selection seems to be a problem... I find only ONE boat-tail bullet in .330 by Prvi at 208 grains...
Contrary to all the accurized Mosins that are toyed with, I haven't seen ANY M95's...
I guess there's a reason for this?
