I posted a while back looking for a 2x10 scope for my 556 DPMS M12. Someone suggested I consider a 3x? So I am. I would like an illuminated rectical. If it was calibrated for the 556 that would be a plus.. $500.00 is the budget. Less is always a plus. A little more for a much better optic ok. Don't know a lot about optics. Thoughts / suggestions?

Re: Still looking for an optic for Mark 12

I am looking for something along these same lines for my MK12 although I'd be willing to spend more.
Nightforce offers their velocity reticles in both 2-10 and 3-15 but using their ballistic calculator it would seem that neither is ideally suited for the 77gr MK262 round. Of course anything from NF is going to be way out of your budget.
Bushnell offers a 3-12 with the mil based G2DMR reticle but I found that this reticle doesn't have enough wind holds to be suitable for 5.56mm and illumination is not available unless you go with the standard mil dot reticle.
Vortex has the 2-10 PST in your price range but it doesn't have a holdover reticle. I've been bugging Vortex to make the EBR2 available in the PST line. I have also been pestering Vortex to do a mid range Razor along these lines but if that should ever come to be it will no doubt be well above your preferred price point.

Another one you might consider is the Leupold 3-9 VX-R Patrol. It has the illuminated Firedot TMR reticle and can be had for about $600.
