I have one of the Stiller 20 moa bases for my Tac 30. Are the Stiller base a good base? I'm curious if I should upgrade to a better base since I'm going to be running upgraded rings (Seekins). What other bases are available, have only seen Ferrell bases made specifically for Stiller actions.

What should I do?

Mount it and shoot it.
Bed it and shoot it.
Upgrade to a better base.

Re: Stiller bases?

So you think you will find a base that fits your action better than a base made by the people who made you action? You paid a lot for the machining quality of a Stiller action, I think they can probably make a pretty good base.

Re: Stiller bases?

You know I was actually just thinking "maybe that's why nobody else really makes a Stiller base, because there's no need with Stiller already making them"

I should note, the base looks great and have never read anything bad about their bases. Just read all the articles about guys using the high dollar/big name base/ring combos.

Re: Stiller bases?

Have several Stiller actions all of which have 20 MOA stiller bases on them. Very good quality control and great craftsmanship in their product. Save that money for an upgraded base and throw it at a stock. Best of luck with new project.

Re: Stiller bases?

I bought a Seekins 20 MOA base for my Stiller Tac 30. Its a great base, but when Stiller Precision shipped my rifle to me they included a Stiller 20 MOA base. I figured there was no reason to change it. I use the Seekins rings with the Stiller base, as would be expected from two quality companies, it works great. I don't think you can beat the value of Stillers bases. Just because they don't cost as much as some of the other top brands, doesn't mean they aren't as good.

Re: Stiller bases?

The base is as good of quality as any out there, just wish it was extended out past the action to allow for better ring positioning on different scopes.
