Stiller Predator & aics ?

Going to build a .284win on a Stiller action. I know the .284 will feed out of a 300wm aics mag.

I'm going to load the 180 VLD's to mag length most likely. Will the extra .130" on the bottom cutout vs the standard cutout on the Tac300 make a difference?

I don't have the measurements of the standard Remington LA cutout but I know the Stiller Predator is .130" longer and I know the aics 300wm mag length is 3.65".

a 284 loaded long with 180's will still be nowhere near mag length in a 300wm magazine. i run 175 smks loaded to 3.1" oal. i haven't run the 180 vld's but i'd <span style="font-style: italic">guess</span> ideally they would be around 3.2"-3.25"ish.

Thanks for the info. I didn't think about looking at cartridge specs.

Looks like I'll go with the Tac300.

Here are 2 pics of the 284 loaded with the Berger 180vld hybrids in a 300wm AICS mag. I have mine loaded in the neck just past the boattail.

The Berger 7mm 180 VLD is 1.525" long.

Nose: 0.764
Bearing surface: 0.541"
Boattail: 0.220

If you put only 0.250" of bearing surface inside your 284 case, your left with 1.055" outside.

.284 case length 2.170" + 1.055" = 3.225" COAL MAX
