I know this has probaly been answered before so please bear with me. I have a Remington M700 ADL in 308. I would like to upgrade the stock and I have not even bothered to mount that POS scope that came with it. I would like some input on both a stock and a scope for it, keeping under $500.00 each. Thanks in advance.

This should be a post about the Vortex. I posted a couple of pictures of targets at 5-6 hundred yards. This to show the Viper does what it should. Not to say it is the best thing out there, but for the dollars you want to spend it might work.

I don't know what to tell you about a stock, but with a budget of 500, you should be able to do pretty good.

Get a used PSS take off for $200, maybe $250 with BM. Now you have $800 to spend on a scope. Others can offer advice in that price range.

With $800 to spend on a scope, I would check out the new Sightron SIII Tactical. My local dealer just got a couple of them in. Good knobs, good glass, and side focus. Looked like a very good buy to me, for what you are getting.

Re: Stock and Scope Recommedation

I have to agree with Icalem. I recently purchased a vortex viper pst 6x24x50 and I am shooting steel at 700 yds easily with .300 win mag police. I like to refer to it as the "normal guys nightforce". It has great glass and the click values have always returned exactly where they should be which is a testimonial to it's strength considering I put it on a damn cannon. Personally I think the scope is worth a heck of alot more $ than I gave. Hope this helps.
