Stock Bolt Guns??

Ok, things have changed a bit. In July 2011 I'll be attending Colorado School of Trade. I'm looking for a stock bolt gun that has a decent amount of aftermarket parts/accessories. I'm a huge fan of the 700, but I want to know what else is out there. I've got a buddy up there thats got a range in his backyard about 200m. Thats what im looking for.

Re: Stock Bolt Guns??

The downfall of the Mauser 98's is stock availability, otherwise there's lots of parts out there for them. You can also make them shoot very well, although they're more labor intensive than a Remington action generally.

If you just want a "bolt on" upgradable rifle the Savage 10's, 12's and 110's are the way to look. A vice, some hand tools, and basic mechanic skills are all you need to upgrade the rifle to a very good shooter. You might be surprised how well it shoots to begin with though.

Re: Stock Bolt Guns??

I'd say about $500-$800. Also, my boss bought the Mossberg Nightrain (first version) a year or so ago in .308. Any thoughts on it.
I gess what I'm looking for is a good gun for the money and somthing i could keep shooting for a decade or so with the proper care/maint.

Isn't that contradictory? BTW they have a barreled action .308 sps in the classifieds right now for 485. go buy that, add the bottom metal and put a stock under it
