Now that I am starting a new, Better paying job I want to upgrade my 700. Its a Remington 700 SPS Tactical .308 with the 20 inch Heavy barrel. What I am looking for is a New stock that i can put a M5 DBM on and a adjustable cheek rest. Also what else should i look for in a stock?

Re: Stock For 700 SPS Tactical

I have a Bell and Carlson Medalist Light Tactical with a Karsten cheek piece. Very happy with it. Maybe a McMillan would be better but I'll stick with this for now, I can get a pic if you want...

Shooting out to 500-600 yards

What is your budget?
$400-700

What is your preference in stocks? (traditional, thumb hole, AR type, etc.)
I Would say traditional like the M40A3. i don't like thumbholes or AR

I can suggest a pile of options for you, but without knowing what you like and how you shoot it's just spitting in the wind. </div></div>

McMillan or Manners. Both have what you are looking for.

Unless you are dead set of the Badger bottom metal you may want to look into the Manners mini-chassis. Lots of good feedback on them, and they eliminate the need for bedding or for a separate magazine system since it is already built into the bedding block.

I agree with the above. If you pay $700 for a stock you will end up over a grand by the time you purchase bottom metal and have it bedded. I would consider going the chassis route. Either the Manners or an AICS should get the project complete for less $$$.
