Do most big name gunsmiths offer CNC Stock Inletting? I have a rifle I'm going to send out and have a heavier barrel contour or a Proof Sendero fitted. The stock is a HS Precision and the barrel channel will need to be opened up. I did it once w a 1 inch wooden dowl and sandpaper on a B&C.

We do and we were the first in the trade to do so almost 20 years ago. It's not only CNC'd. The barrel is 3 dimensionally surface modeled and surface machined.

$100 charge along with shipping. Easy stuff and it'll be in/out in about 14 days.

    C.

This vid shows what your asking along with a bunch of other stuff.

You'll have to ask but if they have a 3 axis machine and a suitable CAM software, it should be easy enough for them. A fellow student at my college opened up his barrel channel with MasterCAM and Solidworks as the 2nd thing he'd ever machined. Software does the art these days.

No. The post processor does. The software is but part of it...
