I am looking at purchasing a Savage Model 111 long range hunter in 7mm mag and while the accustock is good I would really prefere a good fiberglass stock like a HS or B&C. However I can't seem to find a stock made for the mag length action. I would love to hear any other options you guys could offer.

Re: stock options for savage long action?

I just went through this. You basically don't have all the options that are available for the SA. Here is what I found...

-XLR Chassis
-McMillian
-Manners (cannot get the mini chassis yet)
-Stockade
-Custom???

If you went with a short action you could add the AICS, if it ever hits the market. A B&C tactical is also another option and you could also get a Manners with the mini-chassis as well.

If I were you and the 7mm mag isn't NEEDED, I'd shoot for a short action and be done with it.

Good luck

You won't be sorry with a Stockade. Kevin knows Savage's and he can customize it any way you want, LOP, add weight, etc.

I already have a couple 308's and this rifle is going to be a designated long range elk hunting rifle. The 7mm mag with a 162 A-max should fit the bill quit well. I will check out stockade. Thanks for the suggestions. Also thought about a 270 wsm but would rather stick with 7mm caliber.
