Stock weight dilemma

I just placed an order with Manners for a T4 for my Rem 5R. I had just received a T4 for my Sako Quad and I absolutely like how the stock feels.

For my current needs I want my 700 to be as light as possible. I'm not a tactical guy but I like how the tactical stocks fit. I ordered the T4 with the mini-chassis and the more carbon fiber which essentially mutes the weight of the chassis (.5 off of .6).

Here is my dilemma, I feel like I am going to need some some more elevation on the comb. (I am used to shooting on an AICS which basically has the comp level with a 20MOA base) For this the obvious answer is the T4A, but the T4A weighs 4.2 vs the 2.8 of the non adjustable. Does a 1.4lbs make that big of a difference?

I have also considered the Karsten cheek rest, but I do not like the way it looks on a Manners stock. (Not to start a flame war, but this is a concern I have only and not with the actually function of the product.) I like how McMillans cheek rests fit the contours of the their stocks. It's too bad manners doesn't make something like that. I'm getting prices on some thick kydex to see if I can play around with fitment on the T4 I have now.

So is the 1.4lbs going to make a difference? Does anyone have the weight of a 5R with a NF F1 and manners stock?

Re: Stock weight dilemma

I just ordered an eagle stock pack for my HS stock to try out. I'll see how it fits and feels on the Quad's T4.

Call me picky, but I like to have a nice fit and finish, and tape just doesn't do it for me.

Re: Stock weight dilemma

Duct tape and foam will get the job done just fine and won't add much weight.

I have the same dilemma. I want to go to an A-5 for a rifle but don't want it to be gizmo-esque or heavy. A fixed A-5 is hard to beat. No they don't HAVE to be heavy to be good.

A Seekins base and Badger lows do real with with the fixed tactical stocks all by themselves.
