Anyone finish a "out of the mold"stock from stockade? Looking to see if it is worth the headache to save the money, that is if it is a headache. Im dropping a savage precision 10carbine 308 into something and I am thinking one of their stocks. Time frame and level of difficulty would ne helpful.
Thanks

- Prep with tack cloth and alcohol wipes
- Bondo filler the little pits/voids on the skin. Skim away any globs of excess - Let it cure

<span style="text-decoration: underline">Night 2:</span>
- Sand away and blend the bondo. Depending on how cleanly you skimmed this can take a few minutes or a few hours
- Clean with tack cloth and alcohol wipes
- Inspect for any missed voids. Repeat Night 1 if necessary

- Paint time

That's a pretty low impact way to refinish it. It's not difficult, and I've done it in about 3-4 hours of total work with cleanup. I've done a lot of fiberglass "body work" with race cars though, this was pretty low key for me. If you've never done it before figure double that time to be safe.

It's a good experience to have IMO.

Re: stockade stock finishing?

It's not difficult and the others have pretty much covered the prep work. Have fun with it and take your time, The more prep work you do the better it will look.

A while back I built a 6.5-284 on one of Kevin's stocks and decided I was going to put a palm swell on it, it turned out very well. It was a good winter project.

You can just make out the finger groves - palm swell was on the other side (Lefty).

Bohem, thats the info I was looking for thanks. it will be a fun project but if it was outside my skill set I wanted to start on something a little less important.
Tac, nice artwork...finger groves look great
