I searched and didn't find much on these. I'm not looking at it as a primary bipod but possibly as a sitting/kneeling support. Does anyone have any experience with these? Are they any good?

Re: Stoney Point Rapid Pivot Bipod

Well, there is probably a reason you didn't find much with your search...To put it as nicely as I can...they are a real POS!!

They are flimsy/not very stable, prone to breakage and not really suitable for a precision rifle. I mean really...what do you expect from a $50 bipod?!?!

Re: Stoney Point Rapid Pivot Bipod

I guessed that might be the case. Thanks for confirming. Are there any of the kneeling/sitting height bipods/supports that are worth considering? I've got a Harris for prone and bench needs.

Re: Stoney Point Rapid Pivot Bipod

I don't use a bipod for sitting/kneeling. If I use any support other than a sling and my body in the sitting/kneeling position, it is a tripod with a cradle on top. I have a couple different models from Danel/Precision Rifle Solutions (member "platypus" here on the Hide) that I use in those situations. See here:

The medium tripods are perfect for sitting/kneeling, pack up small and are light enough to hump around without any concerns about extra weight/bulk.

If not a tripod, then you could always go with one of the extra-long Harris Bipods like the S-25C,etc.

Re: Stoney Point Rapid Pivot Bipod

It really depends on how far you are wanting to shoot and what you plan on using one for. I use a Stoney Point Monopod with a rapid pivot attatched for shots at game. I use it from the ground or deer stands. It is quick and easy to set-up. It is better than shooting off hand FOR ME. It is not acceptable for extreme long range shooting, though.
