I think I was pretty close to being straight behind the rifle!

Re: Straight behind the rifle

If it takes you that frickin long to get on target I would suggest you eat before you go to the range next time!!!! Between dehydration and the amount of snow around you I wouldn't say you were quick on target acquisition.

Re: Straight behind the rifle

Thanks guys! A buddy of mine and I were shooting and the snow came on so heavy that after a few minutes we couldn't see the target. So I got up to get my coffee and noticed the outline of my body.

Re: Straight behind the rifle

Awesome. A few years ago myself and a another member from here were shooting at around 500 in the snow. The target was whited completely out about half the time, probably got six inches in about 3 or 4 hours. It's not as comfortable as a June day at the range, but it's fun shooting in different conditions. The drive home sucked a bit though. Good on you for getting shooting in the weather.

Yes my buddy is a lefty, and a whiner (about the weather). He was shooting the wife's model 12 223.

Is prone shooting allowed at Island lake? Last time I was there, you couldn't, and the ROs were MEAN SOBs.

Re: Straight behind the rifle

Was -13 on saturday and -20 on sunday when I went out shooting. Still good fun for making snow angels. Snow is just gods way of telling you it could be worse - it could be raining.

Kelson, these guys can't fathom what it's like when you and I go out to shoot! I love seeing their load work ups at 85f. Just thinking what that load would do at 30 below.

Re: Straight behind the rifle

That is why I use Varget. I made up a load for the wife's Mini SASS, when she had it, at 90 degrees. Got an average of 2730fps from 10 rounds, then I tested when it was around 20 and got 2725fps from 10 rounds.
