I recently purchased a HS Precision stock that was lacking the swivel studs. I ordered some up and installed the fore end studs trouble free. When I screwed the rear in, the threaded insert began to spin on me. The stud is about 3/16" from bottoming out and I can't back it off. Is there a fix for this?

Take off the butt pad. If the stock is hollow? You could ruff up the nut and stock on the inside and use marine tex or your choice of epoxy and put it around the nut and on the stock. Should hold it into place no problem. If you are worried about it getting into the threads just use shoe polish or wax around the threads of the stud and run it in to save the threads. You should be able to get the stud out with holding the nut from the inside.

I planned on using Marine Tex to epoxy it down, but the butt pad doesn't have screws fastening it on like I am familiar with. I guess it is epoxied on...I'll whack it a few times to get it off. Thanks.

You can also just fill the hole with a bedding compound of your choice. Put the stud into the hole, and let it dry. If you put release agent on the stud it will thread out just fine and now you have new threads for your stud.

I like that idea jrpilot. I was considering injecting the Marine Tex with a medicine syringe my son used for some thick antibiotic. That way it would help fill the voids around the insert hopefully. Thanks everyone!
