What's he trying to do? Last time I passed through Sanderson I remember seeing a lot of wide open space and wind. Either of which can make subsonic hunting interesting.
I've played around quite a bit with 30cal subsonics (308, 300 Black Out and 7.62x39). I think of them as a niche tool. Circumstances have to be just right.
The case capacity of the 270WSM may be problematic trying to keep a light load against the primer. I've never tried fillers. The 270WSM typical 1:10 or 1:9 twist is a good start for using heavier bullets that work better at sub speeds. But the typical longer 270 barrel may cause problems as well. Subs typically work best with heavy bullets, fast twist and short barrels.
To me it sounds like a lot of work for a little bang.
