SUBSONIC x47/260/CM

Re: SUBSONIC x47/260/CM

Will do

Here is first issue, all info gleamed via QL etc

By preference ya want a full case to ensure good ignition

However setting for a 1050fps several powders give 90% + fill, but only run about 35-40% burn complete

$hitty

So my preference is 90% + burn vs fullcase

TrailBoss I understand is a very bulky powder and preferred by many running subsonic
But i have no info on it and QL 3.4 dont list it

Re: SUBSONIC x47/260/CM

Interesting
After much reading online
Seems the top 2 powders are Trailboss and Titegroup

TrailBoss very bulky powder gives good case fill

Titegroup has a very low case fill but seems not to matter with this powder

Again my choice is better case fill or Trailboss

Nows it seems there are some unique tricks to making this work
Note: Gleamed from web, not my personal recommendation as of yet but most common from various websites

1. Hornady ONE SHOT
Yep Spray down bullets and let dry

2. Take your favourite match bullet and insert nose first/backwards into case

3. Develop load without CAN in place ckin for clean holes in target, keyhole bullet prints indicate baffle strike.

4. Once you have a load that prints clean holes running sub 1050fps...your done
Screw on CAN n enjoy

So i just need a good starting point for Trailboss

Re: SUBSONIC x47/260/CM

I did some calculations a while back, and came up with a starting point of about 13 grains of Trail boss (in a 260 with a 140 grain bullet). This gave a cushion on the higher end to work down from. I think you will find the charges in the subsonic 308 range, or a little lower. I may try a few loads and see, Jedi.

Re: SUBSONIC x47/260/CM

Heres what i,m thinking
find several 308 TB loads then reduce by difference of case capacity...should give me a good start point

This for my X47 suppressed, thou i will rarely if ever have a need to run subsonic...want load sorted before need arises.

I understand shooting hogs here in TX suppressed is legal, same for any none game animal coyote etc.
