Suggestions for one-on-one training in PA (or MD)

I am looking for recommendations for precision rifle shooting trainers in the PA or MD area.

Main focus for now would be basic instruction on my technique for prone/bipod shooting with precision rifles with eventually becoming more proficient shooting long-range.

At some point I will head to RO for a multi-day class, but for now my availability prevents this. I need to start with little chunks of instruction time.

I'm in south central PA (York).

Thanks.

Thanks Herr.Baer.

Mods, sorry, I meant to post this in Forums » Sniper's Hide Advance Marksmanship Unit » Sniper's Hide Basic Marksmanship.

Could someone move this?

Ed Shell (and his partner Vern Harrison). Ed has a great venue on panhandle of MD - mountain top with shoots out to 1200 and nasty wind conditions. If you want longer range, they have 2200yds down in central VA. Ed does one-on-one training, at your speed and interest areas.

Re: Suggestions for one-on-one training in PA (or MD)

I've taken multiple long range rifle and AR courses with Mike and Freddy @ BHTP. They are very good and offer good training. There is a class portion and then a range protion so if you are new to long range rifle I would definetly recommend them.

I'll second the rec' for Freddy and Mike @ BHTC. I have no experience with the others mentioned and I can't say anything one way or another about them.

I know that BHTC will be running a long range precision class sometime in October out in Mifflin County. It should be no more than 90 mins from York, makes for an easy drive up and the range runs to 1025yd.

Re: Suggestions for one-on-one training in PA (or MD)

I can also vouch for Rod Ryan and Storm Mountain. Rod offers some great courses and has plenty of ranges and open space to train in.

+1 for Freddie & Mike at BHTC.

Also Storm Mountain has outstanding LR classes. When you can fit LR 1&2 into your schedule they would be a wise investment, and SMTC is only ~3 hrs from York.

I am in the York area and would gladly hook up to offer any assistance, though I am proudly 110% a Rec Shooter, PM me if interested.

+ 1 On Ed Shell

Took a private trainup with him a couple years ago. He is a great guy and knows his stuff. His prices are more than fair. He will work on whatever you like. Give Ed a call, you will be pleased

I'd call Tom down at Thunder Valley in SE Ohio. It's probably a good drive for you but there's a nice hotel only 10 minutes away (Hampton Inn). The quality of training you'll receive will be top notch and his facility is just perfect for what you're looking for. You certainly won't regret the trip. His courses of fire are very challenging but he tailors every training session to the individual so you won't be doing anything thats too far over your level. PM him: TomSarver is his name on the Hide. Do some research and give him a good look, or call him, he'll talk with you for as long as you'd like and answer any questions you may have. Over 20 years of experience with time as a USMC scout sniper and some private contracting work, not to mention he's a world record holder in 1000yd IBS. His prices are very fair as well.

i would start with the online training here on the hide. then i would go to one of bhtc classes. ive been to one and freddy and mike are great. you will learn alot. but if you ever get the time and extra cash head to RO. jacob and frank are great its well worth the money and travel
