Ok first I know some here are going to say its super g*y or something like this I don't care I have a reason I want one. No I dont think I will be attacked and need 100+ rounds to solve the problem. If I had the money I would have a belt fed M60 or similar rifle for the same reason.

Are there any brands of these super high capacity drum type magazines that are better made or designed etc? Do they jam or degrade if left loaded over a long period of time?

My reason for wanting one is in my work the first impression is very important for security. I will leave this mag in a AR with a suppressor for first impression reasons right behind my desk. However I dont want one if they dont work well. If I need a gun for a risk reason I rarely grab a rifle anyway I normally grab one of my 45s. I like the fact that the ones you want to see something like this just turn and leave going on down the road. Thanks in advance for any suggestions on these esp any first hand experience with them. PG

Wow never heard of those I would guess less to screw up too. However I think the double drums would work for my eye impact better I will be looking into these too thanks for the post. PG

Beta's are known to be fragile. Bolt's surefire suggestion seems to fit your bill better, havent heard much on their durability yet though. I've used the beta's and they work an feed well but need to be careful with them. Didnt try the surefire yet

fearless mighty leader here.....got one just shipped to him most recently.......sniff around and me thinks he was to do a after action report......to include some FA stuff.....video and all as he usually do...

Some years ago (early '90's) there were a bunch of steel drum mags imported from either China or eastern Europe which were designed for the AR/M16. They were very heavy duty and built like the RPD drums which were loaded from the back and then wound up. While the RPD's would hold 75 rounds, the .223's held ~120 IIRC. I'll try to take a photo of one of mine tomorrow and post it.

Ghogs Nightmare a pistol over a rifle as my office is very small like 10x10 or smaller with a large desk three monitors etc. If someone walked in I was uncomfortable with wielding around a rifle with a full small office is a bit tight and slow etc. If the problem was out in the open and not a super rush the rifle would be a great choice. I sell diamonds I don't need a ton of space in my office just fyi. PG

Thanks for the fragile info I was kind of thinking they were plastic and that might be the case its the main reason for the post plus I have never seen one in person.

Ha Athhud, I said it had to work well and not be a fragile pos I also said I would buy the Surefires too. I was not aware of the Surefires will be happy to have a few. PG

For your personal security in such tight quarters I would recommend a Class IIIA vest with the added security of armor plates duct taped to your back in case you are surprised. Though hot and uncomfortable, this will protect you from repeated shots in the back. Just a thought.

I know it isn't what you are asking for, but if you don't have one, you might invest in a Saiga 12 with an MD Arms 20 round drum. If 20 rounds of buckshot doesn't intimidate, I don't know what will. forum.saiga-12.com is the place to look for info, conversion examples and advice.

The surefire is good, until you surpass the cyclic rate of the mag,... which a modified 11.5" 16 or shorter, can do. I've never out ran my Beta's,....yet,... but I'm trying.

Interested to know, what line of work your in, as perception only works on sheep.

An Ar? With a can, C-Mag...right behind your....desk?

First impressions for a professional with security responsibilities that include lines like "I don't think I will be attacked and need 100+ rounds to solve the problem" would best be had by giving the impression they had had a shower within the last 24 hours, had a functioning cell phone, new about video compression, and were bright enough to know they didn't need a suppressed AR(?) with a c-mag behind their....desk.

Client's care about all sorts of things, thoughtful response, incurring potential liability through action, and maintaining good public relations is high up on that list. If they are looking for personal protection provided by folks with chomps, they look for professionals that know... and these same clients will spot a goof ball in 2 seconds flat. They usually have....right....behind their desks.

Actually we are very blessed my sales are quite good and I have been doing what I do the way I do it for many years with a very loyal following. My office my clients and what we do is pretty hard to describe in text so I can understand your doubts and response. I am lucky they must like my goofball side our store is unlike any other and those who shop with us I figure do for a reason. The doors have electric access control there are cameras everywhere too so its not like anyone stumbles into my office to see anything its very private. We have customers who have been coming for 30+ years who still ask where the old M16 is that was always on the wall in the showroom in the old days. It is actually a Colt AR15 we gave my late father but they still ask to see it again and again. Thank for the thoughts and concerns be well. PG

In 95 I went into a Diamond/Gold store in Baku, Azerbaijan. Young guy setting behind the entry door with a AK, middle aged guy on second floor all alone with a PKM pointed at the door. Very large out of place glass for that area of town. After I left I sat across the street an was studying the place to see how much they missed, if anything. The sun was just right and I caught a glimmer in the glass, got up an moved out. Next day walking the side the store was on I quickly looked up and seen two guys with PKM's watching the store front, waved and moved out. Ask the guys at the embassy what the deal was, store was robbed 6 times until they changed to the latest set up which was only tested once. Either there was much profit, or these guys worked cheap,...may have been both. Lots of firepower for one store, for sure. Then again AK's at that time were only 5 bucks, US.

I like the C-Mag. Mine function well and the cool thing is they are exactly the same length as a 20 round magazine. because they are flat on the bottom it gives you an extremely stable shooting positin. 40 round magazines always get in the way when you go prone. Normally I don't like anything longer than a 30 round magazine. Sometimes I clip two of them together so i have 60 rounds on the rifle. I think the new sure fires are the same length as a 40 round magazine but as in everything else its a personal preference.

I'm not really sure what your logic is, but if your "first impression reason" is to intimidate a robber into turning tail and running without you ever having to fire as shot, the sight of that rifle behind your desk is likely to make any felon view you as an imminent threat and neutralize you before you ever have a chance to reach for it, or one of your handguns for that matter. If they make it back to your office with weapons already drawn, the last thing you want is something as heavy, clumsy and slow to bring to bear as that weapon.
