I am looking to get a super sniper scope for my .308. i was wondering what magnification i should get? i heard 10x would be clearer, but i would like 16x. Any help?

i will probably keep it under 300 yards most of the time, but eventually would like to try to get out to 1000

The 10x will get you to 1k fine. If you want more precision than that a higher power works but the higher you go in power the more mirage you get

The field of view on the 10X is heads and shoulders above that of the 16X.
I have a 10X SS that sits on my rifle that I use for comps. I have shot anywhere from 10 yards to 1000+ with it.
If this is one of your first scopes for this type of use, you can not go wrong with a basic 10X. Plus, they hold value.
I just sold my 7 y/o 16X for $265 shipped.
