With some recent threads here I am putting this up as i feel its important. You honor nobody by buying a baseball cap or tshirt with someones logo on it that is made as a blanket attempt to profit off their death or legacy. PLEASE if you want to support fallen SOF and their families donate to the charities that have been supporting them like:

Special Operations Warrior Foundation

Navy Seal Foundation |

https://www.marsocfoundation.org

Green Beret Foundation | Home

https://www.rangermemorial.com/default.aspx

there are probably more but these are the ones i know of. You will benefit every family not just the ones of the most high profile. I know guys like George from GAP and many other companies on this site have donated and helped these foundations in the past with rifles to raffle etc.

Is this your idea on this? A rifle raffle to support these foundations? It's nice.

Would it be one for each foundation?

people were talking about honoring certain SOF guys so i posted about that as the SOF foundations do a lot more then the more general funds but there is the navy relief fund, wounded warrior, i'm sure there are plenty more. if you look up military charities i'm sure you'll find plenty.

what I think would be a great idea is, instead of volunteering companies (he said "have in the past") would be, you (the individual with the idea) buy a rifle and pay for it up front then you give it to a group for a raffle.

Standing in the back offering "ideas" for others to execute is a bit passive aggressive. Good ideas for others are a dime a dozen, why should it be up to George ( or anyone you might suggest volunteer) to decide if he should offer up a rifle. Have you paid attention to what he does without any prompting?

If you feeling someone is not getting the recognition, take action. Be pro-active, but it certainly sounds like guys were looking for someone else to do it for them, I suppose saying, "it was my idea" helps you feel good about yourself, but you'd be surprised how many are all too willing to volunteer someone else in their place.

Its a bit of a pet peeve of mine because I get offers to volunteer me in their own place all time. Good ideas about what "I" should do flow all the time. So it's a bit personal. It's why we don't all a lot raffles and charities on here because too many try taking advantage of a bad thing at everyone else's expense.

As a ps, the "you" in this can fit anyone thinking this way, it's not just pointed at one person. Cause it's bigger than one.

We would be deviating greatly from the overall intent of this topic to continue something that's gone. The other topic is over, and done with.

It's gone.
