I am building a 300WM with the SAS Arbiter Titanium that I won at the Reade Spring Match and I am pretty exited for this build. I shot Sam's suppressed 300WM (DocSeuss)at the range last spring and it was awsome. Even running the heavy 200 gr bullet the recoil was really mild and no roaring boom.

I did a search and really didn't find much. I wanted to ask the 300WM guys that have their rifles suppressed what length they went with and what results they got.

This is going to be a hunting rifle and was thinking of 22" maybe even as short as 20". Wanting to run the 208 A-max.

Thanks,

JamieD

Id say 22" is as short as you want to be. I think both of mine are 26" + the suppressor and its still easy to pack around, for me that is. You would probably be happiest at 24".

I think if you're going to cut the barrel short, you might as well just make it a 30-06. The uses of a magnum cartridge are limited, especially for hunting, and with the right barrel twist, you'll probably be just as happy with a 30-06 anyway.

I'm converting my .264 Win Mag so I have the Magnum bolt face and I really don't want to change the bolt out. I really was giving thought to the .284 in the long action but after watching that 300 Win Mag man handle a piece of 80lb steel at 1000 yards was impressive to say the least.

Plan on taking it to Idaho for some Elk this coming year : )
