The target I was aiming at:

I fired a total of 20 rounds... 20 7.62x39 exit holes:

Re: Suppressed AK47 ... Video

How is the accuracy? Tim at SAS told me he cleaned up the muzzle on an AK and made an adapter for an Arbiter can for a customer, and the accuracy improvement was surprising. I'd like to do one, but have too many other things to spend money on first.

Re: Suppressed AK47 ... Video

I made one for my WASR on a form 1. It is 2x8" and covers 3" of the barrel. The gas venting is still loud and the trigger slaps back against the finger painfully. I sitll need ear plugs when I shoot it suppressed. A bit of a dissappointment. It may be the silencer design, but I think the AK is far from ideal for suppression. I wil be making video of it on the 4th when I travel to Vegas.

Re: Suppressed AK47 ... Video

Ranb,
Some, if not most, of the SAR-1s had trigger slap. It's an easy fix, although you'll need to get the fire control group out of there. I think you'll find instructions at gunboards.com AK forum as well other places. There are aftermarket parts available, but the original parts can be made to work well very easily.

The Chinese threaded the barrel... it came from the factory threaded.
My SEI DC Vortex (14 X 1M Left Hand thread) went right on without issue.

Re: Suppressed AK47 ... Video

From what I've hear AKs are a PITA to suppress. The main problem is threading the barrel. In order to get the threads concentric you need to pull the barrel and do it. Please correct me if I'm wrong because I just bought a .308 can and wouldn't mind using it on my AKs.

Nice can, what type is it ?

Was the barrel threaded by yourself or what ?

</div></div>I guess I got lucky because the Chinese built this Norinco right and except for installing
the 1X14 LH AK47 DC Vortex from SEI I didn't need to concern myself with the barrel.

I am using the SEI M14DC 0.30 Caliber Sound Suppressor that I purchased for my M14s.

Re: Suppressed AK47 ... Video

Did you check and see the how concentric the threads were or did you just throw the can on and start shooting? God I would hate to get a baffle strike on one of my cans.

I checked it myself and then took it to my local expert and he confirmed my findings before I fired the first shot.

It was good to go right out of the box and no modifications to the barrel or threads were required.
