I have a friend who is looking for a can for his Loaded M1A and since I know nothing about them I'm gonna ask the experts here. It's a stock M1A in a Troy chassis. He is looking for something with a QD mount. Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Suppressing a Loaded M1A

I used an AAC 762SD silencer on my M1a. It worked reasonably well, but the main issue is blow back. The way the action is designed the gas comes right back into your face and is very uncomfortable. My recommendation is to get an adjustable gas screw to delay the breach opening and maybe get a scope mount to help deflect the gas away.

Like I said its in a Troy stock so there's no adding a scope mount. Here's a Pic.

After the BS in the last thread I wouldn't listen to a thing H20 or Smith had to say.

Re: Suppressing a Loaded M1A

The Breech shield is for shooting with the blank firing attachment and is specifically for keeping the gas out of your face. Good stuff.

You can put one o several direct connect onto the muzzle threads, or if you want to use a direct connect you could also use an adapter and put a standard 5/8-24 thread QD on that and keep your front sight.

Whatever setup you put on, check the bore of the supprssor the first time you install to make sure everything lines up. You are pulling against a very small shoulder there on the front of the barrel.

Best of luck with your project. I dig the rail on it.

That's what I'm hoping for cause for the life of me I can't find that damn breech shield anywhere(thanks for the link 762 I'm sure it's there but I can't find it)

It's there if you want to buy it. It's under M14 accessories as the blank firing attachment kit. You should be okay with the Troy MCS. I receive very little gas blowback using my scoped and suppressed M1A.
