So I'm trying to make a decision on a suppressor. I'm a buy once, cry once kinda guy.
Here is what I *think* I know:
If you have developed a load for a rifle and if it is close to or near the razor edge of pressure, adding a can will likely push you over.
It probably makes sense to do load development with the can to account for the additional weight and to get the correct velocities for the environment.
Is there any intelligent way to determine whether a particular 30cal can would add more or less pressure than another without just simply testing them ?
I'm looking at the Shark and TBAC 30P-1. Leaning towards the TBAC can just because of cost.
The primary goals I'm looking for:
- Accuracy
- Repeatable
- Stop that damned muzzle blast (currently using a brake)
- Recoil reduction
- Sound suppression
The hosts:
6.5CM bolt gun w/ 24" Rock Barrel
(future purchase) GAP-10 22" .260 Rem
I'm concerned about pressures with these two cans. I'm not running my 6.5CM very hard. The load is 42.4gr Hodgdon H4350, cci br2 and 139gr scenar. It's ~2750 @ 80F.
The GAP-10 .260 will be a 22". It's also a DI rifle (not sure if that matters). I don't plan to run it on the razor edge but definitely will want decent velocity out of it.
I probably won't be able to hear either of these cans prior to purchasing.
I think we all know they're great quality cans. They're both accurate and repeatable.
What about pressure and recoil reduction ?
Anyone have any data they can share on a .260/6.5CM and pressures with either of these cans?
Thanks!
