I have a suppressor that can be direct threaded or put on with brake. Some research has indicated that a brake helps, but my question is, does the brake need to be timed if I’m only ever using it with the suppressor? Gases will be directed into the suppressor but just curious if it still has some effect?

It wouldn’t have a tangible effect but it looks silly the rest of the time. The brake should come with shims for timing it.

Glue (red lock tite) the brake in to the can and pretend it’s direct thread. No need to time.

Even if you don’t do the above, the can ends up coming off more than you might expect (barrel cleaning, suppressor cleaning, storage and transport if it’s too long to go in a case or the safe with it attached, but it absolutely doesn’t matter other than how it looks.
