Just how much does a brake help prevent baffle erosion?

I’m using the area 419 mounts for a few suppressors but have recently started to think a brake might be a nice thing to have.

Is it a waste of money to switch to xeno? Then it mounts to a taper unlike the area 419 and still has left hand threads.

I see more and more folks talk about running DT on bolt guns but I get nervous about it coming loose.

I have zero concerns about baffle erosion and I have 2k round through nomad l on 419 mounts with a 18” 300 win mag.

I would not go to xeno from 419. Seems like an expense for zero gain - the 419 is very very repeatable from my testing

The Area 419 Hellfire, which is what I’m converting my bolt guns over to, has an O ring that seems to make it fairly impossible to come loose. Something for me to keep an eye on in the future though.

I use Surefire Brakes on all of my ARs. I originally used them in my bolt guns too but there are too many better options in suppressors other SF for bolt guns. The only suppressors I don’t plan on converting over to the Hellfire are the AB Raptors because I like the reflex chamber too much to take them off.

Brakes “might” help over a DT but honestly, most bolt guns aren’t seeing the volume of fire than an AR will so for all practical purpose, it won’t matter. You will shoot out the barrel long before you hurt the blast chamber.
