I'm thinking about going with a suppressor, and know very little about them. Is there a need to clean these periodicaly? Is there an unlimited life expectance on a suppressor? How bad is the change in POI? Are they as accurate with the suppressor as without or do you loose some accuracy?

Re: Suppressor care

Yes, there is a need to clean them. I think you would be best served by looking at what the manufacturer recommends for cleaning. I know it is mostly a dry process, i have seen some ultra-sonic tanks put to use on a can. Again, some cans come with a nylon brush for internal cleaning, some don't. In regards to accuracy retention/change, that is published info. I would also suggest you lurk in the silencertalk forums too, for reviews and focused conversations on suppressors.

Re: Suppressor care

The mufflers on your cars\trucks don't require maintenance, why would you think a surppressor would, I took my Shark apart to clean it after 1000 rounds, after the guts were cleaned in a ultrasonic cleaner, I put super high temp antisieze on everthing and put it back together, I will never clean it again, ever.
