Suppressors Suppressor Cover - Leave it on?

I have a quick question re my suppressor cover. What is the general consensus for leaving the cover on or taking it off when not in use?

I don't know the general, but it makes sense to "slide " it off while not shooting. But if I had to loosen it to take it off and it was a PITA, just keep it on. I slide mine back on the barrel, but I just started using them after years of suppressed fire.
