Suppressors Suppressor for 300 Win Mag?

Re: Suppressor for 300 Win Mag?

It's ranked in the top 3 at silencer research. If you don't have a subscription over there, it would be $30 well spent.

For the price of the can, its a no brainer to me.

Re: Suppressor for 300 Win Mag?

My buddy and I both have the .30 cal Omega, not the .300. We were told by SWR that the .30 cal will handle the .300 without the weight. I have only used mine on .308 and smaller cal. My buddy has used his on a .300 win mag and .308 with no problems.

Call SWR and see if you can still use the .30 cal for the .300 and save the extra weight.

Re: Suppressor for 300 Win Mag?

Call up SHARK suppressors!

You want a TIGER SHARK, I have one on my Badger 300WM. They suppress the sound an unbelievable amount.

Quicksilver Manufacturing also makes a great 300WM can, but they are very hefty. The shark is titanium and can be taken apart for service.

Go Shark or go home!

yeah I have a membership over there, but he does not test the 300 win mag specifically.

Re: Suppressor for 300 Win Mag?

I order a Omega 300 back in Nov. 2009. Still hasn't came to my dealer yet. So I got tired of waiting and bought a Gemtech Sandstorm. I already have it in my safe while the Swr Omega is still in the wind. The Gemtech Sandstorm is Titanium and very light. It does a great job on my Rem 5r in 300 win.

Re: Suppressor for 300 Win Mag?

Check out the SRT Shadow XL. Made for and works well with the 300WM. I have one on mine and it works great.

Re: Suppressor for 300 Win Mag?

I just got my Omega 300 this week. It's built like a tank.

I had planned on metering it on 308 and 300 win mag, but the 300 win mag I bought is not threaded 5/8 x 24.....figures.

I'll do it eventually and post the info.......for free.

Re: Suppressor for 300 Win Mag?

Whatever you choose do yourself a favor and go titanium. I have a Shark and would buy it again in a heartbeat just because it doesn't feel like your hanging a cinderblock off of the barrel.
I also have a steel 308 suppressor and everytime I use it I wish it were TI.

Hope this helps,
Trilogymac

If weight is an issue, make sure you get the weight before you buy. Don't assume that because its Titanium, it's lighter than a stainless can.

Re: Suppressor for 300 Win Mag?

I have an OMEGA-300 . I am very pleased with it . I use it on .308 and .300 WM . They both sound the same - about like a .22 rifle . I let a Class III smith shoot it against his .308 can (same rifle, same ammo)- the OMEGA was quieter , probably because of the extra volume ( one of the reasons that I bought it ) . EBR ammo sounds like a pellet gun . SWR's great service was another deciding factor ...

Re: Suppressor for 300 Win Mag?

+1 for the 30 cal omega. I have about 3500+ rounds of 308 through it and still going strong. Have about 850 rounds of 300 whisper through it and it is quiet! Called up and got the news that it is rated for the 300 win mag so going to give that a shot next range day. Shoot with many others that have an assortment of cans and cant say any one sounded quieter. Good luck.

The SWR Omega seems to be hard to find right now... Any reason why? Limited production cycle? Large demand for 30 cal cans?

Re: Suppressor for 300 Win Mag?

Purchased mine from a local dealer several years ago. Did you try them direct? Purchased mine form "ONLY THE BEST FIREARMS" but they are here in South Florida and you would have to pay 2 tax stamps if you wanted to purchase one here. Try them and they may be able to give you a stocking dealer in your area to purchase. Good luck.

I spoke with David last night for about an hour. Hell of a nice guy, answered all my questions. I have a few items I need to sell but I think that I will be purchasing a Tigershark for my 300 win mag.

You are incorrect about having to pay two tax stamps if buying a suppressor from an out of state SOT (dealer). The OP can buy a suppressor from an out of state dealer. That selling dealer would then transfer the suppressor to a dealer in the buyer's state on a Form 3 (no $200 tax!). Once the local dealer has the product that dealer transfers the item to the buyer on a Form 4 ($200 tax needed).

I don't think you will be disappointed. I run a Tigershark on my 308 AIAW and it has been great. I've yet to hear a can that sounds better to my ear.

Thanks for the info.... paying one tax stamp sucks enough....lol two would keep me from buying any class III stuff!

Correct no two stamps. However, your dealer will probably charge a fee for that transfer. Check with your instate dealer on those fees. Some only charge $50 some charge more.

Re: Suppressor for 300 Win Mag?

most of them in this area charge $50 to 100 per transfer. In the case of my first can (a YHM Phantom Stainless .223) I would have saved over 100 bucks buying from Major Malfunction and paying the transfer fee. My dealer boned me on the price of that suppressor...

YEah, kinda dumb if you ask me. I will use thier $50 transfer fee and buy from online retailers. I will not buy a can from them ever again.

Wow that is quite a bit cheaper than the tigershark suppressors...
