Yes you can get them in WI and yes you can hunt with them in WI...(assuming that the info I last read is still current.)
A Form 4 or/and a Trust is the paperwork you need to start thinking about. A Trust is a bit of extra paperwork to bi-pass other paperwork. Reall, a trust is going to allow you to avoid finger prints, passport photos and skipping the trip to get your CLEO's signature. All depends on how you want to do it.
I'd suggest finding a dealer in the area, read about and study the suppressors you're considering online, DO NOT take the word of anyone else saying..."get this or get that cause it's the best"
At the very least, find someone either via forums or just asking around at local gun ranges or watering holes and see if someone is willing to let you tag along when they shoot suppressed at the range or take it hunting so you know what to expect.
Make a decision based on stats and facts.
1 - Weight you're willing to accept
2 - Suppression level you want
3 - Price you can afford
These three things are where you will need to make compromise and sacrifice.
Get a couple guys together that are interested (to save a couple bucks) and subscribe to
SilencerResearch.com if you want honest, realistic numbers on suppression levels and how they compare to other models around the industry.
These are just a few of the ones I read up on and follow throughout the industry, and rest assured...there are LOTS MORE and probably some great ones I don't even know about.
These are personal experiences and opinions and I say again, TRUST NO ONE, INCLUDING MYSELF, when making a purchase that will last your lifetime. Get the facts.
SRT Arms (VERY good can, a dealer friend shoots nothing else and he has access to them all)
Knights Armament aimed toward military use so typically more durable than effective.
Yankee Hill Machine heavy but built like tanks, very effective, and a great value.
Gem-Tech some of the pioneers, had a bad wrap for a minute but nothing to tarnish their products performance
AWC no experience with them but they boast the best .50 suppressor ever made, the Turbodyne.
Elite Iron A lot like YHM in weight and durability but only experienced a custom built 416 Barret suppressor, very effective.
Advanced-Armament put a LOT of $$$ into military R&D that could attribute to their higher cost. Recently acquired by Remington Defense.
OPS Inc often utilize a 2 point attachment that <span style="text-decoration: underline">some</span> say negatively affects barrel harmonics.
Silencer Co currently only offer pistol suppressors but I have heard a rifle suppressor is in the future.
Suppressed Armament Systems another mfg that makes a titanium suppressor for a GREAT deal. No experience with them though.
Surefire Suppressors boast some of the shortest, least POI shift ever.
Shark Suppressors no experience but receive EXCELLENT reviews from other Hiders
WHEW, those are just the ones that I like to follow and read about.
Basically, If you want UNBIAS LEGIT TEST INFO with true numbers and not mfg published data on any and nearly ALL suppressors...AGAIN I will suggest visiting

If you want to visit a forum and ask all the questions you can imagine,
Silencer Talk is great to find info about suppressors, but you must take it with a block of salt. It's no secret that it and it's members are pro-AdvancedArmament.
Advanced Armament does make some very good products, but as I have said before. You really need to decide what you value more, and remember...most people can BARELY tell the difference between 2-3 db but we definitely notice $200-$300.

You want to find the best happy medium you can afford.
Their performance compared to others is not worth the extra coin in my opinion.
I compare using the YHM stats because this is what I own and the others are what I had considered and ultimately passed on.
