Re: Suppressor Threading Run Out Question - Too Much?
..
Tough to understand. Here is the focus for my comments.. "in looking at <span style="text-decoration: underline">the protector </span>off the barrel."
I think you are saying:
1. I am concerned about the concentricity of my thread protector.
2. The bevel on my thread protector appears not to be uniform and off axis.
3. Should I be concerned about this?
========================
If so...
1. Worry about the barrel. If the barrel threading was done properly and the crown is correct, well your accuracy and suppressor are preserved.
2. If the thread protector is the cause of concern, well, it has three potential jobs:
- to protect the thread
- to protect the crown
- potentially hide the fact that the barrel is threaded
If you are correct and the thread protector is off, it is only a disappointing and unnecessary indication of either a cheap mass produced thread protector...or lousy custom work. You get left with only one of three above.
A majority of thread protectors eventually get lost and are replaced with less than perfect units....
Mo, would you take off the protector and post a shot of the barrel, thread and shoulder please?
