We all know that putting anything on a barrel changes POI....

I'm considering a suppressor, but was wondering if this has ever resulted in inconsistent changes in POI (degradation of accuracy) OR the requirement to do load testing all over again...

Barrel harmonics being as elusive as they sometimes are, have any of you had a rifle where accuracy/consistency just went to shit after screwing a can on it, and you found you had to shoot without?

Again, I know they usually do change POI, but is it always consistent?

I have a .308 and have a screw on Suppressor if you note your POI change then every time you put on the suppressor your POI should be predictable.

From my understanding the QD type have issues with POI predicability. If you want to put this on a precision rifle I would recommend a screw on type.

    Hope that helps.

Re: Suppressors, and point of impact change.

My thread on can has a repeatable POI shift. I would do load development with the can on, you will usually hit pressure signs earlier with the can on than without.

Accuracy with and without the can is pretty much the same for me.

If you're getting inconsistent POI shift, then it could be either the can, threading or both.

    Thanks.

Not a high-dollar "precision" custom, but one I do shoot long range here, currently 600 but planning to go to 1000 once I get 600 down

    .

So, POI shift isn't a concern, but obviously even a 1/4 minute of accuracy degradation (consistency) can make the difference between hitting the steel, and not...

Given that my shooter error is the weakest link in the chain now, I need all the help I can get from the equipment...

I have a consistent poi with my Thunder Beast 30P1. Same accuracy with or without. Plain and simple. I too am not a fan of QD suppressors for precision rifles. Hope that helps.
