hello all, I have been wanting to buy a suppressor for some time now and in my state (IL) we cannot own such an Item. Like most of you on here I am an active shooter, I enjoy firearms and all items that can be attached. I think a suppressor would make a great add on to my SCAR 16, that I would like to take coyote hunting on farm land. I would like to hunt at night and not wake/alarm any surrounding neighbors. There are elections coming up and there is a small possibility we can get some republican leaders in our state. I was wondering how us IL residents can go about getting some kind legislation written up or who we should send letters to. I'm not the smartest person when it comes to politics, but I know there are a lot of enthusiasts in this state that would love to own a suppressor and would help with letters or whatever to get them legal. I believe it could even create a small revenue for the state, I'm not sure how these "tax stamps" work, do states get any money from that? Anyway, if your from IL and feel the same way lets do something about this, or atleast try...

-I know I'm probably going to get responses that say move to a different state and buy all the suppressors I want. Well I have too much going on here, and I dont like the idea of moving away just because I want a suppressor, I would rather stay and change/fix the problem.

Re: Suppressors in Illinois

When you get a good north-north east wind blowing and you smell the awful stench in the air you will know why you cant have suppressors.

I feel you though, I love Illinois. If the gun laws were different it would be one of the best states to live in. Chi town had to go screw it up and not to mention the awesome voting ability of our fellow Illinoisians. I would love to move back but damn I don't want to be a prisoner in my own state.

Re: Suppressors in Illinois

Well I have contacted some people at ISRA (Illinois State Rifle Association) and there are some ways of going about this. Maybe just maybe, if in a couple years or probably more we are allowed suppressors or even conceal carry I hope that all the lazy ass Illinois citizens who sat on their ass and didn't try wont be granted the opportunity. Anyway, it is going to be a big pain in the ass, but its worth fighting for.
