Suppressors Suppressors thru LLC

Re: Suppressors thru LLC

Yes but from what I understand if you go the LLC or Corp. route you are subject to annual business taxes etc. (specific to your state of residency) whereas the trust route precludes all those annual fees.

Re: Suppressors thru LLC

did all of mine on LLC, just list ypur LLC as the owner, no leo sign off , no pics, I was in missouri whichreq. a ffl my LLC was my curios and relics business; just recommend be careful if you have other officers of LLC that you don't want owning or accessing your suppresors.

Re: Suppressors thru LLC

I am only officer or owner of LLC. I didnt know if I could use it to purchase the suppressors or if there were tax implications. Glad to hear that I can use it though... I have a couple of rifles that need suppressors

Re: Suppressors thru LLC

I did the LLC route in TN. Even though a little more expensive there are some legal protections built in that the trust doesn't have.

Re: Suppressors thru LLC

my LLC was same as my ffl C&R lic. don't think you need to send but i sent copy of the C&R, LLC doc.; copy of businees lic.; signed form 4 with LLC (title of business)/ owner(my name)

Re: Suppressors thru LLC

What is the advantage of using a trust or a LLC to purchase a suppressor? I am looking at buying my first suppressor for a rifle and need to know the advantages of the trust and/or the LLC route. Did you LLC guys already have the LLC or did you form one to buy things ie curio and relics, suppressors, etc. I was thinking of forming an LLC for my now worth less real estate investments but haven't really seen the need with the new rules on loans and stuff but if it would serve to purposes then it might be worth it.

Re: Suppressors thru LLC

trust and llc don't req. cheif leo to sign off on nor do they req. fingerprint; in the llc when my son becomes old enough he will be come an officer of the corp and will be legal to have in posetion. In a trust it can go to who you designate without transfer forms or cost, likewise officer of llc can have. In my case i have to maintain FFL C&R for the rest of ownership , or until Missouri gets rid of FFL requirement to own AOW suppressors, full auto, SBR.

Re: Suppressors thru LLC

I used an LLC to own all of my SBR's and suppressors. In my state it is two sheets of paper and $50(one time) to the Secretary of State. the only downside is that LLC's can be a little more cumbersome if you add other members (tax returns) or if you move to another state.

My dealer is also an attorney and he helped me walk through the process. I would recommend having a lawyer walk you through it the first time and then you will know the process and you can take care of the details on all future transactions.

Re: Suppressors thru LLC

for rob stl dont forget you nee c&r ffl of reg ffl; name a business get a bussiness lic and apply on line for llc thru state with that business lic name; apply for c&r with that llc name (for c&r mark other under application and denote LLC); after all the above form 4 with llc name, sign it with business name llc/ (you name-owner) and send it in; no fingerprints no mug shot. Thats how i did it cost is 1)if you get business lic whatever is charged in your area 2) 50$ for LLC registration 3)30$ for C&R lic (needs renewed every 3 yrs) and your done!
