Anyone ever given this a go? Threading the barrel of an old Mosin Nagant or Mauser?

Do any of the major manufacturers even make cans that could suppress these rounds?

Just a question of curiosity that's been in my mind for a bit.

Re: Supressing Old Surplus Rifles?

I've threaded a couple mausers and mosins for friends. It can be done, standard cans will work and they seem to work fine. Be careful of which guns you decide to thread. They should be good shooters with good bores. You don't want something that guts your can by not stabilizing the bullets properly.

You can suppress pretty much any rifle round as long as the barrel can be threaded concentric to the bore and the projectile is flying straight without key holing.
